Visitors Centre Natura 2000

The area of ​​Garešnica Poilovlje, significant as a habitat for many protected bird species part of the Natura 2000 ecological network, is a landscape full of natural beauty. 

The environment of Garešnica consists of more than 160 ha of water areas (arranged ponds) and countless wetlands, ponds, rivers, streams and smaller lakes. Almost all of the mentioned ponds are filled with the river Ilova, which is of great importance for this whole area, in every sense.

Ilova is the backbone of the economy through its water contribution (ponds, agriculture); Ilova determined the way of life, building houses, cultivating the land. Ilova is still one of the greatest treasures of this region.

Poilovlje Green Gardens consist of a new Natura 2000 Visitor Center in the city center, the Ilova River waterway for boat tours, educational trails for walking or cycling through 11 kilometers of different landscapes with information and educational boards and two educational points - Kaniška Iva and "Ash Gardens" in Hrastovac. Educational points contain space for sports and entertainment and educational facilities - children's playgrounds, benches, seating and barbecue, educational boards, bird observatories, a stork's nest pole, a wooden canopy with an educational table top.
