Description

The Monument to the Revolution of the People of Moslavina is a monument to the Moslavina town of Podgarić, the work of sculptor Dušan Džamonja. It is 10 meters high and 20 meters wide.

In 1965, Dušan Džamonja received an order to design a monument to the revolution near the small town of Podgarić. This was a new topic for him, because until then he had mainly dealt with monuments dedicated to the victims of fascism. Jamonja made a bunch of sketches for this monument, some of which were used for his later monumental achievements. Džamonja imagined the monument as an architectural project of a sculpture whose volumes of concrete were placed in such a relationship that the dynamics of mass movement would come to the fore. The monument was completed in 1967, and was inaugurated by the President of the SFRY, Josip Broz Tito, on September 7.

At the entrance to the monument, there is a memorial ossuary in which the remains of about 1,000 killed and deceased fighters are buried in partisan hospitals in the area.
